ROLE PROFILE
The WHY
The Merchandiser is responsible for planning, forecasting and trading the product categories to drive the strategic direction, business growth and maximise profitability.
The role drives sales through effective stock management and range building, ensuring accurate reporting and data analysis to inform decision making.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITY
The WHAT
Responsible for:
- Weekly trade analysis, reviewing performance by category and suggesting trading actions.
- Conducting seasonal lessons learnt analysis, building seasonal budgets, product strategies and option frameworks, and presenting to senior management.
- Managing the WSSIs, reforecasting monthly. Presenting key actions to the Head of Merchandising.
- Managing OTB, establishing a balanced and commercial range. Making recommendations to maximise sales potential.
- Highlighting opportunities and risks by market to influence the global strategy and drive regional performance.
- Working collaboratively with the wider business: Product, Trading, Finance & Marketing.
- Managing and coaching junior members of the team, motivating them to drive progression.
- Building strong relationships with the suppliers.
Accountable for:
- The delivery of all Merchandising KPIs, working alongside the Head of Merchandising.
- The department critical path, overseeing the dates and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Accuracy within Merchandising processes; ensuring data is maintained.
- Achieve targeted sales and profit margins by optimising product placement and assortment.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on consumer behavior and market trends.
- Ensure all merchandising activities comply with company policies and brand guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
The HOW
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience at Junior Merchandiser or Merchandiser level.
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset, using data and insights to maximise opportunities.
- The ability to drive sales through both creative and commercial thinking.
- Builds good relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Good attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience within the fashion industry.
- Strong awareness of current trend, the retail market and the Nadine Merabi customer.
- Team-oriented with a proactive and flexible attitude.
